Earlier this month, we celebrated National Travel & Tourism Week. Visit Norfolk and the Norfolk Tourism Research Foundation celebrated with the “Champions of Hospitality” rally at the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center, sponsored in part by The Decker Law Firm. The “Champions of Hospitality” rally was open to the public, welcoming Norfolk citizens to join us in honoring those who do so much for the city’s travel and tourism industry.
The best and brightest hospitality associates of the city were honored for their contribution to Norfolk’s tour and travel industry and the “Decker boys,” Phillip and Paul served as masters of ceremonies. (Unfortunately, Peter III was home with pneumonia, but he was there in spirit!)
Over 150 individuals were nominated in over 20 different categories, and one valuable, hard-working individual received the Peter G. Decker Hospitality Associate of the Year Award. Congratulations to Mary Hearvey of the Holiday Inn Norfolk Airport, who was also named Kitchen Associate of the Year. Mary joins an elite group of Norfolk hospitality professionals who have received the Peter G. Decker Hospitality Associate of the Year award since the very first “Champions of Hospitality” event in 2002. Congratulations, Mary! Thank you for your commitment to excellence!
