As many know, Uncle Pete was a longtime supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. He traveled the world, raising millions of dollars for St. Jude throughout the United States, in Canada and in countries abroad.
St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Discoveries made at St. Jude have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today’s most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly. It’s a place where many doctors send some of their sickest young patients and toughest cases.
All patients accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family’s ability to pay.
Uncle Pete devoted 50 years to helping St. Jude find cancer cures. For a period of time, he served as National Executive Vice President in charge of fundraising for the hospital and for over 35 years, he was a member of the hospital’s Board of Governors and Directors. In 1999, he was elevated to the position of Director Emeritus of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Whether he was traveling the world and singing with Danny Thomas, starting a coffee line to benefit the hospital, or attending every one of Sports Director Bruce Rader’s St. Jude Golf Tournaments, Uncle Pete was passionate about helping St. Jude.
The Decker Law Firm continues Uncle Pete’s mission.
On Monday, September 24th, participating Chili’s restaurants donated 100 percent of net profits to St. Jude. The Decker Law Firm ordered lunch from Chili’s for all employees to help support the cause.
It was a great way to come together, show appreciation for our staff, and remember our beloved Uncle Pete.
