Pete Decker, III is looking forward to serving a third term on the Virginia Board of Corrections after his recent re-election.
In service to the Commonwealth and the Virginia Department of Corrections, the Board of Corrections is a public body whose mission it is to:
- Develop and establish operational and fiscal standards governing the operation of local, regional and community correctional facilities.
- Advise the Governor and Director on matters relating to corrections.
- To make, adopt and promulgate such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this title and other laws of the Commonwealth pertaining to local, regional community correctional facilities and…
- To ensure the development of programs to educate citizens and elicit public support for the activities of the Department.

In addition to his legal practice and position on the Board of Corrections, Mr. Decker III is heavily involved elsewhere in the community. He serves on the Board of Directors of St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Southeastern Virginia, the Board of the Norfolk Drug Court Foundation, the Board of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Foundation and more.
Mr. Decker, III will act as Chairman of the nine-member Board, as it works with the Department of Corrections to make community safety a priority in Virginia.
