Want to Prepay Your Reckless Driving Ticket? Not So Fast!
Spring is here! Your favorite playlist is blasting, the windows are down, nothing could ruin this day! Except… wait… that can’t be right? You’re getting pulled over – yikes! Do you know how fast you were going? A RECKLESS ticket!? But what are you supposed to do next?
As you might expect, a reckless driving ticket can carry some hefty consequences, even for first-time offenders.
“When you get a reckless driving ticket, one of the best things you can do to benefit yourself long-term is to contact a lawyer. If you’re found guilty, the consequences may be more than just a fine – in Virginia your license might be suspended, it’ll show on your criminal record, your insurance premium will go up – not to mention potential jail time for severe offenses.” – Martin Thomas, Jr.
You might be thinking, “I’m sure a lawyer would be helpful, but I don’t have the time for this. I’ll just suck it up and pay my ticket.” What you may not know is that a reckless driving citation can have long-term effects on your life, not just your wallet.
In Virginia, it’s not possible to pre-pay your reckless driving ticket, like you may have before with a speeding ticket. Reckless driving is a criminal offense and requires a court appearance. If you don’t arrive to your court date, you will be found guilty, and the judge will assess the case and decide your penalty. If you want to fight to lessen the charges, it’s important to contact a traffic lawyer as soon as you can after receiving the ticket, so they can fight for your best interests in the courtroom.
When you call Decker, we may ask you to be proactive, and take certain actions to help show the court why your penalty deserves to be lowered or dismissed. You may be asked to participate in a driving course, to get a professional to calibrate your speedometer, and to obtain a copy of your driving record. These all take time to complete, so the sooner you call, the sooner we can start working toward a better result.
“George Neskis, thank you! The Decker Law Firm was transparent throughout the entire process and was there to help me. My traffic case went exceptionally well, and I can’t thank Decker enough!” – Mike, from Chesapeake, VA

Lavender Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 6 cups water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 Tbsp dried lavender
- 2 cups lemon juice
- Lemon slices and lavender petals for garnish
- Blue or purple food coloring (optional)
Instructions:
- 1. Over medium heat, combine two cups of water and sugar, bringing to a boil until sugar is dissolved. Turn off of the heat and stir in honey and lavender.
- 2. Allow mixture to steep for 2 hours (less if you want less of a lavender taste). Strain the liquid, pressing the lavender down to make sure you get all of those juices into your mixture!
- 3. In a large pitcher, combine freshly squeezed lemon juice, lavender mixture and water.
- 4. Feel free to add a couple drops of blue or purple food coloring if you want more color than the lavender provides. Makes the lemonade especially cute for those brunches! Serve over ice.
